Entertainment Trip May 2017

17th - 24th May 2017

This is one that really does require a little bit of explanation because it is a long time since we have been on the Costa del Sol.

The Dona Lola Club is an Aparthotel which means that every accommodation unit is an apartment and you also have the services of a hotel. That means that for a couple they will get a one-bedroom apartment with all cooking facilities there should you wish to use them and the facility of being able to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee is still very important to a lot of people. They also have two and three-bedroom apartments so there are a number of variations and permutations for your choice.

On site virtually, you have two swimming pools and a couple of bars in the Dona Lola Club itself but also as part of the complex you have two really nice bars, one of which is a genuine Irish bar which is run by Irish people and something like about fifteen restaurants varying from Indian, Chinese, Italian and a really outstanding Argentinian steak house. All of these are on site and this does not mean a twenty-minute walk or anything like that. Everything is there at your fingertips.

The complex is situated half way between Fuengirola and Marbella so visits to Puerto Banus and Marbella are only a short taxi from your base.

Our golfing programme there is a really good one. We are playing three lovely golf courses, Rio Real, Santa Clara and Cabopino and out costing includes a buggy. The furthest golf course from the Dona Lola Club is fifteen minute’s drive so we think that this will be a really lovely trip and a good opportunity to return to the Costa del Sol with regular flights into Malaga from “all Irish Airports” and the relatively short airport transfer.

It may seem a trivial thing while enjoying our holiday at the Dona Lola Club this year one of the features for Pauline and I was not only the fact that I could make Pauline a cup of tea but we could also sit down and enjoy the tea while watching BBC, ITV, Sky and all the regular programmes. A long way to go to watch TV but a nice thing to look forward to in the late afternoon.

This is of course is our annual spring entertainment week and for the last five years we have been entertained by Paddy Cole and Joe Cuddy. We now have a new line up but one that you will agree is a fantastic line up. Joining us next May will be Red Hurley, Dickie Rock, Mick Cummins and I am delighted to welcome Ireland’s Lady of Song, Rebecca Storm. A really terrific entertainment package.

The Dona Lola Club also has its own entertainment every night for you to enjoy including one of the best Abba tribute groups that I have ever seen. A really wonderful week to look forward to.

The cost of this trip is €995 per person sharing with clubs and luggage fees to be added.

There will be a limited number we can take so book early
